Relay For Life of the Santa Clarita Valley

Ready to Relay!

HOPE AROUND THE WORLD is the theme of the 24th annual Relay For Life of Santa Clarita, taking place this year on Saturday, May 14 from 9:00am to 9:00pm at Central Park. The entire community is welcome to attend this free and family-friendly event featuring live entertainment, games, raffle drawings, food trucks, and loads of fun!

Live entertainment throughout the day includes Saugus High Choir, Doc Rogers, The Rockdown, Electric Vinyl, The Off Knights, War Tomorrow, and Innovation Show Choir. There will be a bounce house and activities in the “It’s a Small World” area for kids, and Star Wars characters (from a galaxy far, far away…) will mingle with guests. A variety of international food trucks will be on hand to satisfy every taste, including Go Fusion N Grill, Love Bird, Go Beyond, Uncle Al’s BBQ, Poppa Joe’s, AhhHuevo, and Dreamy Creations.

Opening ceremonies begin at 9:00am, followed by introductions of participating teams as they take their first lap. Survivors and caregivers are the heart of Relay. The survivor lap at 3:15pm honors survivors and caregivers as they walk the track to the cheers of the community, with our military giving out medals to our survivors – “Hero to Hero.” All survivors will enjoy a dedicated survivor tent at "Survivor Island" where they can relax, enjoy complimentary snacks, and receive a special survivor swag bag. To register, email Laura Peach at survivors@scvrelay.org.

At 7:30pm, the inspirational Luminaria lap takes place. Participants will carry lights and walk the track amid decorated illuminated bags, each dedicated to a honoring a survivor or memorializing a lost loved one. The Luminaria Ceremony proves to be one of the most moving and inspirational parts of Relay For Life. To purchase or decorate a luminaria bag, contact Yvonne Salas at Luminaria@SCVRelay or call805-750-5248.

The American Cancer Society is on a mission to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Over the past 24 years, the Santa Clarita Valley has raised over $8 million to support cancer research and services for local patients and their families, including free rides to cancer patients’ treatment appointments, places to stay when treatment is delivered far from home, a 24/7 live chat service and much more.

Special thanks go to this year’s Relay sponsors Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and UCLA Health. It’s not too late to start a team, join a team, make a donation, or be a sponsor.
