Ribbon Cutting Event for River Village Trailhead

On Thursday, November 30th, the City will be hosting a ribbon cutting event for the new River Village Trailhead, located at Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road. Those interested in attending must RSVP by Monday, November 27. The event is free and open to the public.

The River Village Trailhead is the result of a partnered collaboration between the City, FivePoint and Castaic Lake Water Agency. The Santa Clarita Valley Bicycle Coalition has also contributed to the trailhead with a bike repair station.

The trailhead connects visitors to the 11-mile long Santa Clara River trail which is the City’s main backbone trail along the Santa Clara River from Interstate 5 to Sand Canyon Road.

The trailhead currently features a drinking fountain, bike rack, a bike fix-it station (created in partnership with the SCV Bicycle Coalition), four picnic tables, two benches and a water feature using river rocks from the nearby Santa Clara River. Castaic Lake Water Agency will be constructing seven parking spaces, one accessible parking space and two electric vehicle charging stations, scheduled to be open to the public by spring of 2018. The trailhead parking shares its entrance with the newly opened Starbucks coffee shop.

To RSVP for the River Village Trailhead ribbon cutting ceremony, please contact Shenil Walker at [email protected] or (661) 255-4939. For additional details about the trailhead, please contact City of Santa Clarita Project Development Coordinator, Jeff Morrison at (661) 286-4041.
